The director general of the Department of Health, Prof. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam. On Monday (August 1) morning, he said this while visiting the capital’s Kurmitola General Hospital in response to questions from journalists.
At this time, he said, all our preparations for vaccination of children are over. We have enough stock of vaccines. When Health Minister Zahid Malek comes to the country, we will start the vaccination program by fixing the date. Initially, this vaccination will be given in some schools of Dhaka city. Later, this vaccination will be started in the whole country in stages.
Earlier, on July 30, Pfizer’s specially prepared coronavirus vaccine for children between the ages of five and 11 arrived in Dhaka.
Initially 20 million children aged 5 to 11 years will be vaccinated.
According to the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) of the Department of Health, like children aged 12 to 17 years, children aged five to 11 years will also be given this special vaccination of Pfizer at schools.
