Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that metro rail has been fixed at Tk 5 per kilometer and the minimum fare at Tk 20.
He gave this information at the inauguration ceremony of ‘Metrorail Exhibition and Information Center’ at Metrorail depot area in Uttara of the capital on Tuesday.
He said that the fare of a passenger from Uttara to Motijheel by metro rail is Tk 100. The minimum fare will be 20 rupees. Even if you get down after one station, you have to pay 20 taka fare.
Obaidul Quader said, Metrorail will have special facility of monthly, weekly, family and card fares. People with special needs will get special discounts every time they travel. There will be a waiver of rent for the martyred freedom fighters.
Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Department ABM Amin Ullah Noori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh Ito Naoki, Chief Representative of ZAICA in Bangladesh Ihuo Hayekawa and Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) MAN Siddique were present at this time.
Project officials said that Motijheel can be reached from Uttara in 35 minutes by metro rail.
